At King & Co, we know a renovation or building project is a big investment. Below we’ve answered the most common questions about our services, licensing and process to help you plan with confidence.

Yes. Brett King holds both a residential builder’s licence and registration as a Class 2 building practitioner, and King & Co is fully insured. All our work complies with the National Construction Code and NSW building regulations.
The timeline varies depending on the size and complexity of your project. A standard residential installation can typically be completed within a day or two, while larger strata or commercial projects may take longer. We will provide a clear project timeline before work begins.
Home Renovations
It depends on scope. A bathroom typically takes a few weeks, a kitchen similar, and a whole-home renovation can run several months. We provide a clear timeline before work begins and keep you updated throughout.
In some cases, yes. We stage the work to keep parts of your home liveable, maintain a clean and safe site, and let you know upfront if any stage would make living in impractical.
Yes. Many renovations don’t require approval, but where they do, we guide you through the CDC or council process and work alongside your certifier so nothing holds up the build.
Yes. As a licensed builder, Brett can carry out structural modifications, including wall removals and open-plan conversions, with the right engineering and certification behind them.
Class 2 Strata/Unit Renovations
Under NSW law, renovation work on apartments and multi-unit (Class 2) buildings must be carried out by a registered Class 2 building practitioner. Most builders don’t hold this registration, which means they legally can’t take on apartment work. Brett does, so King & Co can deliver the full scope of unit renovations.
Most apartment renovations need owners corporation approval, particularly anything involving structural changes, waterproofing or common property. We handle the strata liaison and documentation as part of the project.
Everything from cosmetic upgrades to full internal renovations, including kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, layout changes, structural modifications and compliance upgrades.
